"You have reached Solus zos Galvus. I fear I am unavailable at the moment, but should your query be of an urgent nature, pray leave a message. I shall endeavor to return it anon."
[After he'd cleaned himself up from a week spent asleep and taken some painkillers for his raging headache, and well after he'd assured Ardbert he was perfectly fine, Estinien picks up his gear and reaches out because he has a lot on his mind.]
[It takes longer than what would be usual for him to reply. Not because he doesn't want to get the "deets" on what is going on, but it would seem the two stoic men in Emet-Selch's life decided to crash out at exactly the same time. Thus they awoke at the same time as well, and so he's been busy getting the rundown of what's going on in Dirk's world, and assisting him with adapting to this world after having the luxury of being in his own again.
So, sorry Estinien, but this mystery was put on hold for a little bit. Until, well, now!]
Oh dear.
It is not that I hadn't considered the possibility that the remaining sundered Ascians might run amok with us unsundered defeated, but I can only imagine what Fandaniel has gotten up to since his leash has been consequently dropped.
I am not sure I want to know what that petulant little fool has been up to, but I suppose my curiosity outweighs my dread.
Somehow I am both surprised yet not at all. Thus is the paradox of our fraying reality I fear. I can only imagine why Zenos might seek it hence, but Fandaniel, well. This most recent incarnation of him has been far from stable.
Though, I had not thought him to seek out the Final Days. The sundered are even more twisted than I had imagined, their souls far too fragile to assume such burden. At least the ones that are not of the Source, of lesser completion, anyroad.
[You aren't the only one. Luckily Ardbert had already gotten him started and he's a little tipsy already.]
Zenos wishes for naught more than a last dramatic battle with the Warrior of Light. Fandaniel, meanwhile, apparently wishes to die and take the rest of the world with him.
[How fortunate your...friend would be so supportive in these endeavors, however his loyalties would have him abstaining.]
Pathetic, the both of them.
Zenos is but a spoiled child, and while I cannot claim to not have had a hand in such, his twisted nature's fault would fall more squarely upon Varis' broad shoulders. All the same, it is a foolish and shortsighted endeavor to seek, and the cost of such indulgence is beyond comprehensible measure.
As for Fandaniel, I can say that his methods are incorrect if he wishes to die in a way that is truly final. I do not support his goal, of course, but I suppose I can see his logic. Warped and ridiculous it may be. I too sought respite from my duty, though I would never do aught that would end all life as it exists.
However, I suppose this is now the concern of our mutual hero friend, is it not? Or have you found yourself burdened by such purpose as well?
Tis a sight more than the actions of a spoiled child.
[Had it started that way? Unquestionably. And Estinien is sure that Zenos cares not a whit that Fandaniel is setting the world ablaze in his madness, so long as he gets what he wants.]
What else could I possibly do? I am not so indolent as to stand by with my thumbs up my arse whilst the whole world is set ablaze.
[Plus Alphinaud's kicked puppy eyes are incredibly effective.]
From my perspective, it is exactly the antics of a child whom has not been corrected for quite some time. Though I suppose it is unkind of me to simplify his desires so. But then again, he is not exactly attempting to define them as aught more complex.
Like a child he wishes for a plaything, and without the proper emotional development for concern nor care of consequences that comes with maturing, he dismisses the weighty cost of such juvenile demands. He cares only for his shallow desires, and of naught else. Is this not a similar lack of foresight that befits a child, even if his measure of power and influence is far more reaching than your average youth.
While that is quite the visual, I am glad to hear you will rise to the occasion of heroism should you find yourself backed into a corner. Who knew a man so gruff could have a heart so noble. How moving.
Believe that I know what the actions of a spoiled brat appear like. Needless to say it has never extended to attempting to destroy everything, much less causing the misery and privation in Doma and Ala Mhigo. Tis reductive to call it such.
[He's reluctant to call anyone a monster--not because he doesn't think the term applies, but because people are far worse and forgetting that is also reductive, not to mention dangerous.]

What in the *seven hells* is Fandaniel's problem?

I did not miss your sarcasm.
