I cannot say I am familiar with the term, unsurprising despite the overlap otherwise. Though, I am curious of its etymological roots. That, and I find it rather interesting that it is so common a relationship that your world would fashion a term for it.
It's a portmanteau formed from the names of two players of the Game session that destroyed the home universe of the alien tyrant that destroyed mine.
Theirs was a long and convoluted emotional and narrative entanglement pretty much exactly like you described, so pivotal to the events of reality as it would come to be known that it served as a driving force not only in their own session but the succeeding human one as well.
Which is kind of funny because the '-rezi' half winds up alone in the end anyway, with 'vris' nowhere to be found.

As a historical note, they used to be called smileys. Then an emoticon, or simply an emote. Emoji is aactually a Japanese word; the resemblance to the English 'emotion' or 'emoticon' is completely coincidental.
Back on topic, her going missing had nothing to do with spiders and everything to do with her self-obsession and correspondingly overinflated concept of her own importance. So much so that it ultimately ended up becoming true, but in the process she cheated herself out of a chance at a happy ending.
Which might have been the only thing she did right.
From the sounds of it, she deserved to be done away with by her own hand. Fortunately, for as much as Hythlodaeus may be incurably smug at times, I would not say he is self-obsessed nor believes himself overly important. At times, he can be irritatingly humble.
